That's a doozy! Er... dooz*er*.
It was windy and snowstormy today. A day when you just want to stay inside, curl up next to the wood stove and vegetate until the weather smartens up. A great day for crochet! ~_^
So I sat down with a bit of yarn and a hook and... well... crocheted. I decided I felt like doozers today, so that's what I did. I seem to be getting better at making up patterns as I go along. Good thing I also write everything down; if it works, I can do it again and if it doesn't... well, that's what they invented scribbling for. ~_^
I think I'm going to give this guy to Mom; she's always liked doozers. EDIT: I gave it to her just a few minutes ago - she loved it! Yay! ^_^

And the back:
His nose is about twice as big as it should be, but at least next time I'll know the triple-triples are a little too tall for a base...

FINISHING
With nose-color yarn, sew over the two dtr on the head until you can't see the body color underneath and the stitches are smooth. Fasten off, hide yarn (push threaded needle through head. Pull tight, partially squishing head, cut off close to head. The yarn end will be sucked back in, invisibly.)
Sew head and tail to body with blunt yarn needle and body-color yarn. Sew legs to body.
Sew top openings of arms shut. Thread the needle with body-color yarn, push under 2 loops near top of first arm. Push needle into body where you want the arm to be and out the other side where you want the second arm. Push under the same two loops on the other arm, then push the needle back through the body to the other side, using the same place it went through the first time. Tie off to the other end of the yarn, weave in ends.
Sew cross-straps to belt; you might want to put the belt on the doozer, then place the straps where you want them. Mark the middle stitch on the belt with a scrap of yarn at the four places the cross-straps end. Take off the belt and sew on the straps, using the markers as guides. Weave in ends.
Sew crest to front of hat. Weave in ends.
Embroider eyes and mouth.
